Why only sleeping? If Bras increased those things they'd do it all the time. I've never heard of infection or breast cancer links to sleeping in a bra. In a properly-fitting underwire bra, the wire should fully encompass all breast tissue and rest flat against the rib cage all the way around, not floating, poking, or digging in anywhere, but a lot of women's bras don't fit like that. There is some anecdotal evidence that wearing the wrong size can cause changes to breast shape from the wires sitting on breast tissue, and the vast majority of women are wearing the wrong size (especially since most stores and size charts put people into bras with bands that are too large and cups that are too small). They also didn't account for whether the people were wearing the wrong size. ![]() So, you know, people with smaller and naturally more self-supporting breasts were more likely to go braless and people with heavier breasts were more likely to keep wearing bras. The only long-ish-term study had a major problem in that it was self-selected who would wear bra and who wouldn't. There's no really good evidence either way.
